Hello, Beautiful People! Welcome to a new series on my blog where I write about my reflections on a particular topic that I’ve been ruminating over for the past couple months or so. Think of this as a behind the scenes peak into the thoughts that are circulating within my mind an an effort to make sense of them in a way that truly resonates. For the first post within this series, I thought it would be fitting to talk about consistency.
Consistency is something that we talk about in reference to something that we’re trying to do. Whether it’s trying to start a new business, create content for social media, establish a workout routine, or develop a new skill, consistency is often cited as the key ingredient to success. But what does it really mean to be consistent? And why do we often struggle with maintaining consistency in various aspects of our lives? What does consistency look like when you’re trying to balance everything else going on in your life? These are the questions that have been occupying my mind lately, and I’m excited to share my thoughts with you.
Defining Consistency as a Content Creator
The area where I spend the most time thinking about being consistent is content creation. I’ve been a content creator in some shape or form for about eight years now on and off. When I first started creating content, it was as an entity separate from myself. Fast forward to now my content creation stems from my brand. I love it because I get to draw inspiration from my personal experiences and interests in a way that feels unique and special to me. However, it’s also a place where I feel that I’m not doing enough.
My level of consistency has ebbed and flowed throughout the years due to a lot of varying reasons. When I look at accounts that have a much larger following than me, I can’t help but think about the moments where I didn’t post anything and for a brief moment I wonder where I would be as a content creator if I posted despite everything else I had going on. While I can’t change the past, I can redefine what consistency looks for me as a content creator in a way that doesn’t lead to burn out.
My journey as a content creator has taught me that consistency isn’t just about posting regularly; it’s about showing up authentically and sustainably. While it’s natural to have moments of self-doubt when comparing our journey to others, it’s important to remember that everyone’s path is different. The key is finding a rhythm that works for you, your lifestyle, and your goals. By redefining consistency on our own terms, we can create content that truly resonates with our audience while maintaining our well-being.

The Challenges of Maintaining Consistency
Maintaining consistency is tough. Some days it feels like a breeze and I don’t even second guess it. Other times it feels like I am dragging my feet to the finish line. It’s even tougher because creating content back in 2020 looks completely different now in 2025. It feels very very often that no one is watching. I find, especially on Instagram, that more often than not I post something and don’t really get any real engagement or feedback. And I get it as a regular user of these platforms (I’m not someone who is really all in the comments), but as a creator it can be really discouraging. And the only thing that you can do is push past the discouragement and keep posting that content. At the end of the day, that’s exactly what consistency is about. Showing up even when it feels like no one is watching, trusting in the process, and believing that your dedication will eventually lead to meaningful connections and growth.
Additionally, content creation is only one of the things that I do. In the midst of content creation, I’m also working a full-time job, I create courses, I’m actively pursuing my hobbies, and I still try to maintain and active social life. It keeps my life very full, which I love, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that it wasn’t a lot. Sometimes if I let myself sit too long, I can get really overwhelmed and I start to question why I keep adding more things to my plate in the first place. But these challenges are precisely what make the journey meaningful and worth pursuing. They remind me that consistency isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence and adaptability in the face of multiple responsibilities and competing priorities.
Despite the discouragement, there are a few things that I’m proud of that have helped me overcome the challenges surrounding maintaining consistency. One of the things that I’m really proud of overcoming is this idea of perfection. I’ve chosen to focus on getting the content out despite it coming out later than I expected. That sometimes has looked like writing two blog posts in one week, getting a social media post at 9:30pm, or quickly pivoting on content that I originally had planned. I’ve also seen how that the process of maintaining consistency has allowed for more creative ideas to flow in ways that didn’t before. By consistently creating, I have allowed myself to be more creative. This acceptance of imperfection and dedication to the creative process has not only made consistency more achievable but has also led me to creating more content that I am proud of and that excites me.

Lessons Learned
In this journey of achieving consistency, I had to start from the ground up in terms of building back the consistency muscle when it comes to creating content. When I really started to get intentional and hold myself accountable towards being consistent. That’s where the learnings took place. Some of the things that I learned is:
- Have an overarching plan for my content before I started creating content was extremely helpful. Even if I ended up changing my mind later.
- Allowing myself the space to try something new creatively, whether it be a content idea or an editing technique, allowed me to feel a lot more happier and motivated to create content.
- Setting a goal for each month was so helpful. It kept me accountable to myself and allowed me show up more for myself even when I didn’t always feel like it.
- Batching a whole bunch of content doesn’t work for me the way it used to. Rather than finding a time in my day to create content for hours. I found that finding a couple 1 hour blocks throughout the day was the most useful with my time.
- Allowing myself to start something even if I didn’t finish it was incredibly helpful! This made starting a task so much easier but also made coming back that much more of a smoother process.
- Leveraging AI doesn’t take away from your creativity. I’ve found that using AI to repurpose my content has allowed the constant pieces of content to flow more seamlessly.
These lessons have not only helped me maintain consistency in content creation but have also transformed my approach to managing multiple responsibilities and roles. While I wouldn’t say I’m at my ideal state when it comes to content creation, I feel better equipped to navigate its challenges while creating meaningful content that I am proud of and that reach the right audience.
Redefining Consistency
Rather than looking at consistency as “how many of x can i challenge myself to do”, I’m looking at is as “how many of x can I realistically do while still making time for everything else”. Looking at consistency as something that can be readily attainable as opposed to a goal that I’m constantly moving. This leaves more room for other things in my life while also ensuring that I am honoring the commitments that I’m making to myself without getting burnt out. Presently that looks like 4 social media posts a week on three different platforms, 1 blog post a week, and 1 email newsletter a week. At this point, I have no plans on changing or altering the schedule in anyway but rather I am trying to find opportunities to be more efficient to make room for other opportunities that come my way. This redefinition of consistency allows me to maintain a sustainable content creation schedule while preserving the quality and authenticity of my work, ultimately leading to more meaningful engagement with my audience and personal growth as a creator.

Looking Forward
Looking forward, I’m feeling excited and also hopeful. Despite the ebbs and flows of my journey as a content creator, it has been the one thing that I keep crawling back to. This year I intend to explore why and see where that leads me and what opportunities start to unfold. I’m excited for the outcome, but I am finding more joy in the journey itself before anything else.
Outside of my current content creation flow, there is definitely going to be more. I plan on starting back to creating YouTube videos and I hope to start a substack in the near future. Previously, content creation felt like a silly thing that I did from time to time. Now I see content creation as part of my portfolio and a way to express myself and continue to build the life that I want. Through this journey of exploring consistency, I’ve learned that true success lies not in rigid adherence to predetermined schedules, but in finding a sustainable rhythm that allows for growth, creativity, and balance in all aspects of life. Here’s to continuing this journey together, one consistent step at a time.
