Hello Beautiful People! We are in the last month of Q2! It’s officially summer and I am just enjoying the warm weather and not having to walk outside with a coat! May was a really busy month. When I look back at my previous recaps, I see that to be honest every month has been busy. Curious to see what I was up to last month? Keep reading.
The Feeling Of Over-Committing
When I look back at last month, I have to admit that I was BUSY. Not only was I traveling a lot; but I was also still working while balancing a bunch of different side projects. One thing I felt like I did was over-commit myself too much. I tried to tell myself that if I was just focused and disciplined, I would get everything done. I failed to give myself grace. I underestimated how long certain things would take and didn’t give myself moments to rest. One of the things I had to admit to myself was that I was busy. I don’t usually admit that out loud, however, saying it openly has given me a sense of relief that as I look into June I can prioritize rest.
Business Update: Completing My LinkedIn Learning Courses
One of the most exciting things that happened last month is that I completed all of the LinkedIn Learning Courses that I was working on this year! Last month, I flew to California to record the last two courses and when I left, everything was complete. It’s hard to believe that in the past two years, I’ve created six courses! Sometimes my imposter gets the better of me and I feel like I don’t belong working in Tech, but working on creating technical courses has made me feel seen in so many different ways that is very healing.
For June, I’m excited to not be working on any LinkedIn Learning courses and investing more time and energy into my content creation. I’m hoping to get on a good schedule with content creation and execute my ideas.
Work Update: Finding Opportunities to Learn
In addition to everything that I’ve been working on on the business side, I’ve also still been maintaining my full-time job. After last year of not working for five months, I’m happy to say that my relationship with work is very calm and neutral. I like the people I work with, I find the work interesting, and I have a good work-life balance. To be honest, I feel so grateful to just be in a better place than I was last year. This sense of peace that I feel about work is something that I don’t think I’ve ever felt in my career. I’m excited to continue working at this company and growing my career as a software developer.
For June, I want to focus on continuing to learn and build domain expertise. Because of all of the traveling, I haven’t felt the most settled, despite getting positive feedback. I want to feel like I can get into a good routine with work so that I can still manage the other things in my life that I enjoy.
Life Update: Thinking ahead for the summer
Summertime in New York City is truly unmatched! Last summer allowed me to really fall in love with the city and so I’m excited to continue deepening that love and just enjoy the warm weather and spending time with my friends. I don’t know what June has in store but I’m excited to see what unfolds.
