3 New Notion Features and How to Use Them

by | Feb 15, 2024 | 0 comments

Anytime I think that Notion can’t help me be any more productive, Notion adds some new features that can help level up my productivity. If you’re unfamiliar with Notion, Notion is an all-in-one productivity tool that can help you manage your tasks, keep track of your notes, and collaborate with other people in one seamless place. In this blog post, I’m going to walk you through some of Notion’s newest features and give you three different use cases on how you can use these 3 new Notion features to boost your productivity.

What’s new in Notion

Notion is constantly evolving and introducing new features to enhance productivity and organization. Let’s take a look at some of the latest additions to Notion’s toolkit. These new features include improved AI capabilities, enhanced collaboration options, advanced board functionalities, and seamless integration with other tools. With these updates, Notion continues to empower users to work smarter, stay organized, and unleash their creativity. Whether you’re a business professional, student, or creative individual, these new Notion features are designed to streamline your workflow and unlock new possibilities.

One thing that I’ve found with these newest updates is that they greatly facilitate the process of saving time while performing various repetitive tasks and effectively managing the pages within my databases. Additionally, these enhancements provide an invaluable boost to my productivity and efficiency because they allow me to streamline my workflows and focus on more important aspects of my work. When you incorporate these enhancements into your daily routine, it’s going to be a game changer in terms of your time management to help you achieve better results.

3 Use cases for these new notion features

Because Notion is super flexible and customizable, it opens up a ton of cool options for how you can use it in your workspace. In the next few sections of this blog post, I’ll dive into three different and creative ways you can rock Notion’s awesome features.

Using Database Automations to Mark Tasks as Complete

For this use case, I’m using my Task Manager Template, which I have on my Notion template shop. Within the task management database, you have the properties, archive/done, type, status, name, and due date. There are two ways that we can mark a task as complete. The first is updating the status property done and the second is also using the archive/done checkbox property. Using Notion database automation, we can specify that when we mark a task as done, we can update the status to being complete. To do this we would specify the trigger as Archived/Done is checked and we set the action to be Status is Done.

Adding Repetitive Tasks to Your Task Management Database

Another great thing that you can use Notion for is to use Notion template buttons to add tasks to your weekly plan. I do this using my weekly planning template that’s on my Notion template shop. Let’s say that you have certain tasks that you know that you’re going to add to your task database every single week. Instead of creating a recurring template in your Notion Database, you can use a template button. Within this button, we can specify that we’re going to add a page to our advanced task manager database and specify which properties should automatically be checked. Using this feature can help you save time by eliminating the need to write the same tasks over and over again.

Using AI to come up with a subject for your Email

The last way that you can use some of Notion’s newest features is by using the AI property in a database to write an email subject line. I’m going to show you an example of this using my email database. Here in my email database, I have a bunch of different metrics that I track, but the one that I want to show you that’s the most important is my potential subject line property which is auto-updated by AI. When I click to edit this property, you can see that it’s a text field and then you can see that there’s this custom auto-fill. I have specified the prompt for this property to be “Write a catchy subject line based on the subject property”. The subject property is just the title of this page and I have it here. While I don’t necessarily always use the subject line in my emails, I find it a good tool to start brainstorming what might be a good subject line to use, which makes my content creation process a lot smoother and a lot simpler.

Using these Notion features is going to be such a huge level up to your productivity and can help you manage your time even more effectively. If you want to get started playing around with these templates and adding your customizations, head over to my Notion template shop and grab yours today.
