Hello beautiful people! August has come to an end which also means summer is coming to an end! If you read my update last month, you’ll know that I have been really enjoying and making the most out of this time and it has been a really amazing time. Let’s dive into what I’ve been up to on this August 2023 recap.
The theme for August 2023 Recap: Pushing Through
While most of my blog posts are always filled with so much hope and excitement, this month I sort of hit a wall. There was an opportunity that I was really excited about that didn’t pan out and I was just disappointed. This year for me hasn’t really been my best. A lot of unexpected things happened and even when trying to stay hopeful, when I pictured the worst possible scenario, the worst possible scenario is what actually happened. I’m at a point right now where I’m just used to being disappointed and anything that seems remotely exciting to me always has always left me disappointed and it’s a really frustrating place to be.
That being said, I recognize that I can’t let myself wallow away. That doesn’t mean I don’t feel my emotions, but it does mean that regardless of how I’ve been feeling, I just have to keep going even if it’s not my best effort. I’m really thankful to have such an amazing support system and people who see me for me and not the circumstances around me. I know that I have amazing people to fall back on and to be completely honest, it’s the only thing that is really keeping me going in addition to my faith. I’ve been really happy to be able to experience joy through being around friends and family and have been really working internally to develop a good sense of peace.
Life Update: Seeing Old Friends & Spending Time in Nature
One of the things that I’ve really enjoyed this month is seeing and spending time with some of my old friends! For those who don’t know, I’m a pretty social, outgoing person. I’ve met so many amazing people throughout the years and I feel fortunate that I’ve been able to consider them a friend even if we’ve only known each other for a few months. However, one thing that makes seeing older friends and family is the longevity that they’ve been in your life. Being around people who have seen where you were, and how you’ve been going, and can speak life into where you’re headed is truly special and impactful. Seeing them reminds me of the times when things were simpler and life wasn’t so complex and gives me excitement for where we will be in the future.
One thing I have been really wanting to do this summer is go on a hike! Living in New York City doesn’t exactly always lend itself to major hiking. However, there are a couple of places that are about an hour outside of the city that are pretty amazing! I went on two hikes this month and one was by myself! Spending time outside in nature, breathing in fresh air, and just being one with myself was therapeutic. It really allowed me to recenter and refocus myself which is exactly what I needed in order to continue on and stay the course.
Business Update: Completing some major projects
There are two major things I wanted to complete this summer. Working on my notion template shop and completing another LinkedIn Learning course. Well, I am proud to say that I have finished another LinkedIn Course! This course was a little bit different than the courses that I’ve created previously. However, it was still an exciting process nonetheless. I think I’m fully stepping into my course creator era and I am excited to continue creating courses for LinkedIn. And maybe even for more companies in the future!
While my notion template shop isn’t quite finished, I will be finishing it in September. I’m excited to debut more templates, clean up some of my old templates, and have a better pulse on what my audience is interested in. This is so I can create more things that are tailored to what they need. If you would like to see one of my templates, I encourage you to download my Online Business Hub template or Goal Setting and Habit Tracking template. Stay tuned for more!
Looking Forward: trying to stay neutral
It would be very dishonest of me to tell you that I have all of this hope and excitement for the upcoming month. I know things are always going to work out but I’m at a place where I can’t let myself get too excited because I’m not really sure what there is to be excited. One thing I will be doing though is doing my best to stay neutral and see what comes out as a result. My hope is that September will finally put all of the pieces together.
