Hello Beautiful People! Spring is officially here which means summer is right around the corner! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to trade in my winter coat for a nice light jacket as we approach no-jacket weather! Curious as to what I’ve been up to? Keep reading to learn more about what’s been happening in March.
Career Update: Meeting My Team
I usually don’t start these talking about my career, however, this is definitely where I had a lot of different things happening! In March, I traveled to San Francisco for our department onsite and I got to meet my team for the very first time. It was great getting to see everyone and I was relieved that the vibes in Slack matched the vibes in real life!
While we didn’t get much “work” done, we were able to connect and I felt a part of the team and the company. My relationship with work has shifted over the past few years but I feel like I’m in a place now where I can say that I like where I work, I like the people I get to work with, and I’m excited to grow my career here.
One thing I’m actively trying to work on when it comes to work is not letting my past work traumas affect my current situation. While I can look back on my career thus far and see all the highlights, I also see where I left one toxic situation over and over again. My current role has no ounce of toxicity and I feel very grateful to be here. However, the worry does creep in. Instead of letting that worry and anxiety completely consume me, I’m making an active choice to enjoy the goodness and support and have fun thriving, growing, and learning.
Business Update: LinkedIn Learning Courses & Redefining My Business
I am actively working on 4 LinkedIn Learning Courses! I typically don’t work on this many at a time but it happened and we’re here! Working with LinkedIn has honestly been so fun. It’s one of those things that I don’t talk about too much but I’m excited that I get to do it. Now that one is done, there are still 3 more to go and I plan on having it all pretty much wrapped up before summer starts so I can breathe a little bit better. I’ll be wrapping up one this month and then heading to California to record the final two in May.
As I continue to create LinkedIn learning courses, I’m also looking to see how I want my business to grow this year. I enjoy writing and creating content, however, I also need to be cognizant of my time and what has the most value. I need to get back to setting active goals that I can work towards for me to better understand what I want to do and how I want my brand and business to continue to grow. While I know I can do all the things, it boils down to whether or not I want to. I’m going to be working on actively trying to understand what it is that I want to do. My focus will be to get back to being consistent again and see how I feel at the end of the year.
Personal Update: Acceptance
My name is Ademusoyo and I do incredibly too much. It’s something I’ve been saying for a long time, however, I don’t think I stepped into it until recently. Last week, I wrapped up my LinkedIn Learning course, took a train to Maryland for the weekend, and came back Monday morning to then catch a flight to Nigeria in the evening. Earlier in March I flew to San Francisco for work, came back, and the next day I drove to the Hampton’s for a friend’s bachelorette party. On the one hand, it’s exhausting, on the other hand, I feel so fulfilled.
That being said, I am a human being. I still need to make sure I’m taking care of my body and mind and not letting myself get too stressed. One of the things I’m trying to make sure I do is find better ways to manage my time so I can fit all the things I need to do but also prioritize my rest. I’m not sure what that looks like but I plan on being present and enjoying all of the moments in between.
