August 2025 Recap

by | Last updated Sep 6, 2025 | 0 comments

Hello, Beautiful People! September is here. It seems that fall is starting to creep upon us but I am enjoying the moments of warm weather that we have left. August was a beautiful but very busy month. Curious to see what I was up to in August? Keep reading my August 2025 recap.

August Was For Friendship

I said in last month’s update that August was the month for friendship. I started the month in Philadelphia for my friend’s film premiere, threw a party on my apartment rooftop, visited a friend and her new baby with some other friend’s in Charlotte, and ended the month in San Francisco visiting another friend. I love my friends so much and we don’t get to spend nearly as much time as we used to due to our varying life directions. This makes spending time with them in person so special and cherished. However, it also kept me running non-stop throughout the month of August. Although I didn’t accomplish everything that I would have wanted to, I feel good about where my time was well spent. These moments provided a break from reality and gave me some time to recharge and feel nourished.

Another great thing about August was the US Open! The U.S. Open takes place in New York City so getting to enjoy tennis players in real life was so exciting! I got to go three times already and I’m going to go one last time before the tournament is over. Watching the US Open has brought me so much joy these past few weeks. I started playing tennis about two years ago so the journey of playing tennis for me has been so rewarding. That combined with watching tennis has made me really happy! I’ll be sad once its over.

Career Update: Leveling Up

Next month will have made two years at my job. These past two years I have learned so much and have gained so much confidence as a Software Engineer. I never thought I would be in a place where I could truly thrive at work, however, I am so grateful to say that I have finally found the place! I work with incredibly smart and kind people and the work we get to do is challenging and interesting. This is the longest I’ve worked anywhere where I haven’t thought about quitting (if you know you know) and I hope that it continues that way.

Now that I feel that I have a good groove at work, my next goal is to work towards a promotion in the next year. This will require me to be more visible in hopes of demonstrating myself as a leader and someone that can be trusted on the team. For the remainder of the year, my focus is to find new opportunities to learn, build subject matter expertise and trust, and increase my visibility. It’s definitely going to be a journey and something that I will be continuously working towards. However, I’m ready and prepared.

Business: More Writing, More Creating, Increasing my Visibility

One of the biggest mental hurdles I’ve had when it comes to creating is my fear of being perceived. It’s something that I let hinder my ability to show up in the way that I want to and has led me to procrastinating thus hindering my goals at it pertains to growing my brand and my business.

The part that makes me especially frustrated with myself is that I actually enjoy creating. I am a writer at heart (have always been since I was a kid) and I really do enjoy content creation. I waste all this time procrastinating leading me to rush the process and not meet my own deadlines.

This is stopping now. I can’t be someone who prides themselves on being productive and getting things done and have toxic productivity habits that are hindering me from being more productive and that starts with building better habits. My first step in doing so is to build my writing habit. I am committing to writing for 30 mins every day for the next 30 days. That could be anything from my productivity newsletter, my blog, or my substack (more to come on that soon). The important thing for me is that I am doing something that I know that I love to do everyday, even if it’s only for a little bit. I also plan on sharing more of my writing with my audience so I can increase viewership to my blog. I’m excited to see what comes out of it and I know that regardless of the outcome it will be a transformational experience.

The Fall Curriculum

There’s this trend going on on TikTok called The Fall Curriculum. It’s where people post what they plan on learning throughout the next “semester”. I’m planning on participating in this trend and dedicating 1-2 hours each week to learn and unpack different ideas and themes that I might not have gotten to learn otherwise. I am also starting my Yoga Teacher Training this month and I am excited for the transformation that is to come as I start my journey to become a Yoga Teacher! This next month as well as the remainder of Fall has the potential to be truly the most transformative time of my life. I’m excited to take you along the journey!
