May 2025 Recap

by | Last updated Jun 14, 2025 | 0 comments

Happy June, Beautiful People! I can’t believe we’re at the halfway point of 2025. This year truly feels like it’s flying by and I am just going along for the ride. It’s finally starting to be warm in New York City which means summer is finally here! Summer in NYC is always a fun time and it truly is what makes living in New York amazing. Curious to see what I was up to in May? Keep reading.

Leaving More Room in My Suitcase

If you read my update last month, you would know that I am back to setting goals and holding myself accountable. Last month, I told myself I upped my goals a bit more, thinking that I could achieve them no problem. Although I was able to achieve the goals that I set, I can’t say that it wasn’t a huge problem. The goals that I set for myself had me at full capacity, leaving little room for much of anything. While I feel good about keeping my word to myself, I am aware that I cannot do that again. Moving forward, I am committing to being more intentional about leaving room in my metaphorical suitcase for opportunities and experiences that may come up unexpectedly. This means setting realistic goals that allow for flexibility and growth, while still maintaining the progress I’ve made in my personal development journey.

Personal Update: Visiting Friends, Concerts, Book Festivals

The last two weeks of May were packed! I saw Beyonce, visited my friend in Philadelphia for her birthday, and went to the Black Romance Book Festival in Atlanta! Beyonce was such an amazing concert! She’s such an amazing performer and the Cowboy Carter tour is probably one of my favorite concerts that I’ve been to of hers. If you’re thinking about going to see it, I highly HIGHLY recommend.

The Black Romance Book festival was amazing. To be surrounded by so many authors, books, and readers was so special and such a heart-warming experience. I was able to see all of my favorite authors, discover new authors, and attend so many amazing panel discussions. This was my first book festival that I’ve ever been to and one of the first “conferences” that I went to that was purely for my enjoyment and just furthering one of my hobbies. I can’t wait to attend again next year.

Business Update: More Content?

This month, I am going to make efforts to restarting my YouTube Channel again. My last video was over a year ago which was so unintentional but I’m ready to add that back in. I know that I’m definitely going to need help with getting those videos up so I’ve already reached out to someone who will help with editing. My goal is to get 4 videos recorded so that I can start posting a new video in July! I’m excited to share more of my journey through video content and connect with you all in a different way. If you’re interested in staying updated on my YouTube journey, make sure to subscribe to my channel and turn on notifications so you don’t miss any new content!

I’m also getting ready to start working on another LinkedIn Learning course. I have a proposal due at the end of this month and I’m excited to get started working on it. It’s crazy to think that this might be my ninth or tenth course? I work with some of the most amazing people at LinkedIn Learning so I’m excited to continue this partnership. I’ve learned so much about content creation and course development through this venture, and I’m excited to continue growing and sharing my expertise with others in new ways. Be sure to keep an eye out for more updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested in collaborating or learning more about my courses and content!

Prioritizing Creative Rest

This past month, I was talking to my Dev Color squad about rest. We talk about the seven types of rest and discussed which ones we need to work on in our life. For me, I realized I need to focus on creative rest. Between my day job as a software engineer and also as a content creator, I am constantly creating and problem solving. While I’m really good at taking time away from work, I’m not so good when it comes to taking time away from content creation. My action item for myself is to take a two week break from content creation so I can re-calibrate and just give myself some time away. This also means that I’m going to make sure I get the work done at the end of the month so that I can rest guilt free.

Closing

I am excited for this summer and what it will hold! As we gear towards the last half of 2025, I am feeling hopeful, inspired, and fueled to continue building momentum and working towards my goals and desires. Please feel free to reach out and connect with me through any of the channels mentioned. Whether you’re interested in collaborating, seeking guidance, or just want to share your own journey, I’m always excited to engage with my community. Here’s to making the rest of 2025 meaningful and impactful!
